He Is Risen

This is an Easter banner for Maranatha Bible Church–our first banner for Easter. We wanted a banner that expressed the central truths of Easter in a simple and beautiful way. We also wanted to avoid any of the symbols that have become a bit cliché over the years, like lilies and sunbeams.

It seemed to us the simple phrase of the angel as spoken to the women that first Easter morning, “He is risen”, captured the essence of that day. Jesus is no longer dead, he is alive. Apart from that nothing else matters; with that, everything changes.

We added the symbols to represent the central roles of Christ in and through the whole of those few days of his passion.

• Going to the cross he is the lamb of God
• Defeating sin and the death that it brings, he is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah
• Living righteously, overcoming evil, returning victoriously to the Father, he is the King of kings and Lord of lords.

It’s All About the Cross 2

Here is the latest installment of our cross series. This banner celebrates the cross, but also recognizes the empty grave that is an integral part of our salvation.
